Lions District 2A1 in Texas was officially formed in 1930, when the original District 2 in
Texas was divided into multiple districts at the International Convention in Austin.
According to the official history of Texas Lions districts, the first Lions District in Texas
— District 2 — was created in 1917, shortly after Lions Clubs International was
founded. Over the decades, Texas was reorganized several times.
In 1930, at the International Convention held in Austin, Texas, District 2 was split into
five new districts: 2T, 2E, 2X, 2A, and 2S.
District 2A1 is one of these original subdivisions. The “A1” designation reflects its
position within the larger Multiple District 2 (MD2) structure that exists today. While the
district’s exact charter date is tied to that 1930 division, its boundaries and membership
have evolved through subsequent reorganizations, including the creation of other
subdistricts in later years.

DG Otilia Sánchez led her first District 2-A1 Lions meeting on July 18, 2026, in Mason, TX. Past governors discussed the budget, five new officers were installed, and 13 clubs were represented with 43 attendees. The day included a speed learning session, an eye bank presentation, and lunch.
